In memoriam: Philip Josef Glowa (1993-2021)
Phil Glowa, my long-time, go-to bass player for Fairbanks Jazz in Fairbanks, Alaska, passed away on February 1, 2021. He left us way too early. It makes me pause and wonder about the order-of-things in the Universe. It wasn’t fair to the rest of us. For many years, Phil was my main bass player for gigs ranging from The Midnight Sun Festival, Tanana Valley Fair, Lavelle’s Bistro, the University of Alaska Fairbanks Wood Center Pub, and at Bobby’s Downtown, where Fairbanks Jazz was the house band for a number of years. Phil was a very talented bassist. I’m sorry he is gone. He will be missed. RIP
